Inventory management that makes your passion for your products reappear
Many of our customers started their businesses with a passion for their products. They wanted to bring them to a wider audience and help more people.
But they found the products they started out loving have become a source of frustration and worry.
It’s because managing product inventory can be a complex game of whack-a-mole, with many pitfalls for the unwary. Doing it well is a specialist job.
They came to us because they were fed up with spending their days on the phone to factories overseas, filling out paperwork and fighting with spreadsheets. And they were frustrated that no matter how hard they worked, something always slipped through the cracks.
Genie Sourcing is a complete inventory management service that helps in two ways. We give you inventory management expertise so your product pipeline runs smoothly from start to finish. And we give you back time to focus on the other areas of your business. We reignite your passion for your products.
We were founded in 2012 by Rocky Wisdom with the aim of helping FBA, B2C and B2B businesses to manage their inventories more effectively and efficiently.
And our ambition? It’s not much. We want to be recognised as the best company in the world for any B2B or B2C business wanting to outsource inventory management.
Meet Rocky Wisdom,
founder of Genie Sourcing
I started my career as an expediter for a small company in Gloucester, UK. I was responsible for making sure orders arrived on time and on cost.
I quickly got a robust process in place and soon graduated to purchasing.
When I arrived, the way it was done was the way it’s done in lots of businesses. Take planning for Christmas as an example. In June, the management team would decide which products we’d stock, which new products we’d launch, how many of everything we’d need and so on. The list would be passed on to marketing, who’d prepare the catalogues and the advertising.
As Christmas approached, panic would set in. Products wouldn’t turn up in the correct quantities – or would arrive at all. We’d have too many of some lines and not enough of others. Overall, there was about an 80% success rate. It doesn’t sound too bad – but it means one in five product lines went wrong in some way. It was embarrassing for the business and difficult for the staff who had to handle unhappy customers who’d seen products advertised that didn’t arrive on time.
I figured there had to be a better way. I started to develop a purchasing management system that would take the guesswork out of everything. It was only in Excel and nothing like the system we’re developing with Genie Sourc ing now. But combined with my expediting experience, it made a big difference.
Year one the new system was in place, we hit a 97% success rate. Not perfect, but nearly – and certainly a big improvement on the previous years.
Genie Sourcing came out of my experiences at this company. We provide professional inventory management for FBA, B2C and B2B businesses. We use robust systems and processes so every element of your inventory management is reliable, cost effective and headache-free.
